Joseph Paul Franklin

Serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin is scheduled to die by lethal injection Wednesday 11/20/13. He has killed 22 people and his reason being that they were black, Jewish, orientals, interracial couples, or Hispanic  He is serving death sentences for the killing of two young black boys ages 13 and 14. He was afraid that the white race was at danger and hate filled his heart. Franklin would stalk his victims before shooting the with a make-shift rifle. He was put on death row because of the killing of Gerald Gordan who he killed in front of his wife and kids, and the killing of Dante Evans and Darrell Lane the 13 and 14 year old simply because they were black. He also attempted to kill Civil Rights leader Vernon Jordan Jr. who he shot but he was only seriously injured, and Larry Flynt publisher and founder of hustler because Flynt published photos of interracial couples having intercourse which angered Franklin because he believed that races should not mix. Franklin shot Flynt twice leaving he barely alive and paralyzed from the waist down. Joseph Franklin says he accepts his fate and is sure that he is going to heaven because he has repent and is not longer racist with no hate in his heart.

The Legalizing of Same-sex Marriage

           Recently legalizing gay marriage has really became apparent.  In the state of Tennessee it is currently illegal to marry the same sex but that does stop LGBT citizens from marrying anyway. They would more than likely just marry in stats that does allow gay marriage like California,Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, and then come back. The problem with this is if they choose to divorce they would not be able to because they would not have lived in the state of which they were married, and because of this they would be stuck together. Honestly gay people have every right to get married because they are normal people and they should be able to be together and want what straight people have.

The Government Shut Down

The Government Shutdown is the effect of political parties not agreeing about Obama Care. What is a Government Shutdown? Congress has one key duty in the Constitution -- pass spending bills that fund the government. If it doesn't, most functions of government -- from funding agencies to paying out small business loans and processing passport requests -- grinds to a halt

House Republicans insist any new spending bill include provisions to either defund, derail or otherwise chip away at Obama Care. Senate Democrats are just as insistent that it doesn't.

Because of the Shutdown some workers are furloughed; most of the 3.3 million government workers are deemed "essential" -- they'll keep working. But more than 800,000 government employees will sit at home, according to a CNN analysis. Many of the furloughed federal workers are supposed to be out of their offices within four hours of the start of business Tuesday a three- to four-week shutdown would cost the economy about $55 billion.

A Talk to Teachers

James Baldwin makes a lot of valid statements when talking to the teachers. He starts with saying "Now, the crucial paradox which confronts us here is that the whole process of education occurs within a social framework and is designed to perpetuate the aims of society. Thus, for example, the boys and girls who were born during the era of the Third Reich, when educated to the purpose of the Third Reich, became barbarians. the paradox of education precisely this--that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which  he is being educated." I think he saying that when being educated to the  benefit society the learner becomes aware of what around them and can become uncultured or act out  a certain way because  that is the only society that the learner knows.

 Baldwin talk a lot About black people and what they become in the society they are placed. He says ",that any Negro who is born in this country and undergoes the American educational system run the risk of becoming schizophrenic." He speaks of how a young black boy can become a criminal. "If for example, one managed to change the curriculum in all the schools so that Negroes learned more about themselves and their real contributions to this culture, you would be liberating not only Negroes, you'd be liberating white people who know nothing about their own history. And the reason is that if you are compelled to lie about one aspect of anybody's history,  you must lie about it all. If you have to lie about my real role here' if you have to pretend that I hoed all that cotton just because I loved you, then you have done something to yourself. You are mad." I think he  saying that if the curriculum was to be changed and that it would be taught that black people were enslaved and that white people knew that they enslaved the black people that they would know something about their history, instead of lies saying that they did all the work themselves.

Crisis in Syria

On August 21, 2013 the Syrian government released chemical weapons on its citizens, bombing them with poisonous gas killing thousands. Syrian "President Bashar al-Assad's government denies all allegations and has accused the rebels of carrying out the attack.: "Syria recently agreed to join the global Chemical Weapon Convention, and the UN said it would come under  the treaty from 14 October." "It envisages Syria providing a full inventory of its chemical weapons in one week, all production equipment being destroyed by November, and all weapons being removed from Syria or destroyed by mid-2014." A UN resolution could be sought under Chapter VII of the UN charter, which allows for the use of force, if Syria fails to comply. As a result president Obama is considering an attack or war on the syrian government. The united States does not need nor do we have the money for another war. Why does the U.S feel that they have to help everyone? The U.S is in enough debt with the current wars and adding another one would only hinder our nation. This nation needs to let another country handle this problem like Russia and work on building the economy here to make America a better place overall.

My world is a book

In a world with unlimited knowledge one can only hope to learn more. When I open a book it is like walking into a whole new world. I get to escape my life and enter the life of someone else and see the problems of the characters. I love to read a good romance novel. Romance novels let me see how two people can go through obstacle after obstacle and still see that they are meant to be together. It lets me see that there is someone for everyone and everyone can be happy.   When I read books I can picture what is happening as is it was an movie. When I read the scenes be vivid and I get caught up in the emotions to the point that I feel what the characters feel and start to relate to the characters. I often wonder if other people feel the same when reading as I do.
